Ullmark will accompany the Senators abroad

Goaltender Linus Ullmark will accompany the Ottawa Senators on their three-game road trip, coach Travis Green revealed Saturday.

“He accompanies us abroad. […] He’s still being evaluated on a daily basis,” Green added after the 6-5 shootout victory over the Boston Bruins.

Ullmark has not played since leaving in the first period of a 3-1 loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Dec. 22, 2024 because of a back issue. Prior to this game, the 31-year-old was 8-0-1 with a .954 save percentage and a 1.43 goals-against average in his previous nine starts.

Green didn’t rule out rookie goaltender Leevi Merilainen making a sixth straight start Sunday against the New Jersey Devils at the Prudential Center (1 p.m. ET; RDS, TSN5, MSGSN, NHLN). Merilainen is 4-0-1 with a .940 save percentage and a 1.57 GAA in his last five games.

“I will evaluate all options,” assured Green.

The Senators (23-18-4) will visit the New York Rangers on Tuesday and the Bruins on Thursday.
