Before the Prix d’Amérique, the big event at the winter meeting in is the Prix de Cornulier. The largest mounted trotting race in the world, nothing less. Since the title holder Esperanza Idole wasn’t there, last year’s fights, Rib Swallow, Ideal Oak et Ina you Rib hoped to do well, but had to face Joumba de Guez.

Joumba de Guez the strongest

More Rib Swallow galloped away and lost any chance of victory. He’s the underdog Guide Me Forgan who took lead and rope, before Granvillaise Bleue got up to speed, then overtaken by Joumba de Guez. The pace was not indecent, the climb was approached on an average pace, and Jean Balthazar took the opportunity to make a close approach.

Entering the lead in the final straight, Joumba de Guez suffered the attack of Ina du Rib, who seemed to come decisively taking advantage of an opening to the rope, but the latter plateaued, and that’s good Joumba de Guez who found his second wind and managed to dominate Ina du Rib, second in the photo in front Jasmine de Vau et Jewelcandle Factwo big outsiders who will boost the quinté +. The veteran Blue Granvillaise retains 5th place. This is a fourth Cornulier Prize for Eric Raffin22 years after the first!
