Martin Fourcade did not fail to pay a beautiful tribute to his former great rival Johannes Boe. The Norwegian will end his career next March.
“a handsome man in addition to being an immense athlete”
Following the announcement of the surprise retirement of Johannes Boe at the end of the season, the tributes multiply. From supporters to his opponents, everyone is affected by the premature end of the Norwegian’s career. His old rival, and certainly his greatest rival, Martin Fourcadedid not fail to return to this announcement.
The seven-time winner of the big globe salutes a great man and an immense athlete: “It’s both a surprise in terms of timing because he had announced several times that he would stop after the Cortina Games, and at the same time not so much a surprise as I had the impression of feeling in him this desire for something else for a while”, Martin Fourcade for the AFP.
-He continues: “What is also quite touching is to prioritize your aspirations rather than a race against records to find out who would be the best. It comforts me to read about the man I have known my entire career who is a handsome man in addition to being an immense athlete.
He is one of the rare athletes with whom I have never had an ambivalent relationship. It has always been very healthy with a lot of respect despite the great rivalry between us”
