On July 8, 2023, little Emile, two and a half years old, disappeared in Haut-Vernet, in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, while he was in his grandparents’ garden. On March 30, 2024, a resident found the skull of the little boy near the hamlet.
If the causes of the young child’s death still remain unknown, the time has now come for his family to reflect.
Colomban and Marie Soleil, had made a request to the Vernet town hall to bury their son Emile, at the Haut-Vernet cemetery, on Saturday February 8.
The request was heard and approved by the Municipal Council meeting this Saturday, January 18.
A religious ceremony open to the public
A religious ceremony open to all will be held in the Sainte-Marie-Madeleine basilica of Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume in Var on the morning of Saturday February 8, 2025, indicates Closer.

The burial will take place around 3 p.m. in the strictest family privacy at the Haut-Vernet cemetery. Only relatives and residents of the hamlet will be authorized. The village located one kilometer away will be inaccessible to unauthorized persons.
According to François Balique, the mayor of Vernet, quoted by BFM DICI, “a simple tomb” will mark the resting place of the young child.
