with his support after the fires, Matt Groening causes controversy

On January 7, a series of fires hit the Los Angeles region. The human and material toll is heavy, so much so that American President Joe Biden called them ‘most devastating’ fires in California history. Many personalities presented their support to the firefighters engaged on the scene and to the associations helping the victims. Matt Groening, creator of Simpsonspresented his following this disaster but it caused controversy.

A heavy toll after the fires that ravaged Los Angeles

The start of 2025 has been catastrophic for Los Angeles. The California city was hit by major fires that reduced thousands of buildings to ashes. The flames also swept away villas forcing stars to leave the region. The human toll is very heavy, at present, these are at least 27 people who lost their lives in these fires and dozens who are still missing. Firefighters are still trying to contain two outbreaks located in Pacific Palisades and Altadena.

Faced with the catastrophe, we remember that the studios Disney and Paramount have committed to making donations to help all those involved in fighting the flames on site. The big-eared firm promised tooffer 15 million dollars for the reconstruction of the city.

The Simpsons tribute shocks some Internet users

For his part, Matt Groening, creator of Simpsons wanted to support with a drawing of the famous family who lives in Springfield. So, the official X account of the animated series shared a drawing in which Homer, Marge and their three children and pets can be seen holding a banner reading “We love you Los Angeles et Bart holding in his hand the list of the main districts of the City of Angels affected by the fires.

If Internet users applauded this special illustration, some commentators criticized it. Indeed, the controversy, which goes a little too far, has been caused by Bart’s attitude. Internet users find thathe doesn’t express emotion unlike the rest of the family.

Regardless, we appreciate this support from Simpsons following the Los Angeles fires. Note that Disney recently made a dangerous decision for the animated series.
