A serious chairlift accident occurred this Saturday, January 18 in the Spanish ski resort of Astún, in the province of Huesca. At least nine people were injured.
Impressive drama in the heart of the Spanish Pyrenees. This Saturday morning, a chairlift accident occurred in the Astún ski resort, report our colleagues from the newspaper The Aragon Newspaper. Members of the special rescue team and a helicopter were dispatched to the scene, but also several ambulances and fire crews from the municipality of Jaca, (Huesca).
Around thirty injured
Around ten seriously injured people were transferred to San Jorge hospital in Huesca according to the local press. In total, around thirty victims were recorded. The causes of the accident are, for the moment, unknown, but daily Herald of Aragon mentions a problem with the chairlift cable.
-The President of the Government of Aragon, Jorge Azcón, is expected to urgently visit the scene of the terrible accident today.
