A fire claimed the life of an 86-year-old man on the night of Saturday January 18 to Sunday January 19, 2025 in Charmauvillers (Doubs). The fire started in an old Comtoise farm of 300 m2 transformed into apartments.

An 86-year-old man died in a fire in his apartment in Charmauvillers (Doubs), on the night of Saturday January 18 to Sunday January 19, 2025.
The firefighters were alerted around 1:30 a.m. for a fire in a house, an old Comtoise farm of 300 m2 located at 4 rue de la goule, transformed into two apartments on two different levels. Despite the deployment of five hoses, including one on a ladder, the emergency services were unable to save the octogenarian, who died when the firefighters took him out of the house.
-In the second home, a family made up of two parents and three children were evacuated before help arrived. They are relocated to a lodge.
Significant resources were dispatched to the site with 14 machines in total. There were 37 firefighters at the height of the intervention, coming to reinforce the Charquement, Maîche, Damprichard, Pierrefontaine, Hérimoncourt, Baume-les-Dames and Montbéliard barracks.
The intervention was still in progress around five in the morning. The police and the mayor of the town were on the scene. We do not know the origin of the disaster.
