6 h30 GMT: IIsrael announces ceasefire in Gaza will be delayed until list of hostages arrives
Israeli Army Radio reported Sunday that the ceasefire in Gaza, which was scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. local time (06:30 GMT), will not begin until the list of hostages to be released has been received.
The delay is due to “technical and logistical reasons,” the Palestinian group Hamas said. The ceasefire between Hamas and Israel follows a genocidal Israeli war against Gaza, ongoing since October 7, 2023, which has killed nearly 47,000 Palestinians, mainly women and children, and injured more than 110 700 more, according to local health authorities.
Hamas reaffirms commitment to ceasefire agreement
Hamas announced on Sunday that the handing over of the names of the hostages from the first group was delayed for “technical and logistical reasons”.
Hamas confirmed on Sunday its adherence to the terms of the ceasefire agreement with Israel.
-In a statement, the Palestinian group said it “reaffirms its commitment to the terms of the ceasefire agreement.”
He noted that “the delay in handing over the names of those to be released under the first ceasefire group is due to technical and logistical reasons.”
The announcement comes as the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas is set to take effect at 8:30 a.m. local time (06:30 GMT) on Sunday, after months of genocidal Israeli war against the enclave.
