The popular short video sharing application TikTok was taken out of service late Saturday in the United States.

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) — Popular short video sharing app TikTok was shut down late Saturday in the United States.

TikTok users in the country were greeted with the following message: “Sorry, TikTok is not available at the moment.”

“A law banning TikTok has been implemented in the United States. Unfortunately, this means you cannot use TikTok at this time,” reads the message, which adds that “We are fortunate that the President Trump has indicated that he will work with us on a solution to restore TikTok once he takes office!

US President-elect Donald Trump said earlier on Saturday that he would “most likely” grant TikTok a 90-day extension on his inauguration day on Monday.
