Serie A – Naples disgusts Atalanta and takes off (3-2)

Naples increased its lead at the top of the Italian Championship to six points by defeating Atalanta (3-2) on Saturday in Bergamo during the 21st day which saw Juventus dominate AC Milan (2-0). Trailing from the 16th minute after the fourteenth goal of the season from Mateo Retegui, top scorer in Serie A, the Neapolitans, now without their Georgian striker Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, who left for PSG, quickly equalized through Matteo Politano, then doubled the lead on a superb strike from Scott McTominay.

Rebelote after Ademola Lookman’s equalizer despite four defenders: Romelu Lukaku headed his team back into the lead, this time for good. Two and a half months after its heavy defeat at the Diego-Armando-Maradona stadium against the “Dea” (3-0), Napoli inflicted its first defeat since September 24 on a team in a bad situation (three draws, one defeat ) while she had chained eleven victories in a row between October and December.

It was an important match against a direct rival, but the championship is still long (…) There are still things to improve“, warned Lukaku. Thanks to this sixth consecutive victory, Napoli is with its 50 points six lengths ahead of Inter Milan (44 pts, two matches in less, including Sunday’s against Empoli) and seven ahead of more than Atalanta (43 pts).
