President-elect Donald Trump plans to delay the shutdown of the TikTok platform in the United States by almost two months, NBC News reported on Saturday.

The latter told NBC News that his final decision on the fate of the Chinese social network had not yet been made, but that he was open to pushing back the January 19 deadline, when Bytedance, the owner of TikTok, was to sell its U.S. shares of its app to a non-Chinese buyer.
If the company did not comply with the requirements, it would be banned from the United States.
-“I think that would certainly be an option that we could explore. The 90 day extension is something that will definitely be done, because it’s appropriate. We have to be careful with this. “It’s a big situation,” he said in a telephone interview with NBC News.
“If I decide to move forward, I will announce it on Monday (January 20),” he added.
TikTok announced Friday that it “will unfortunately be forced to close on January 19,” unless “the Joe Biden government guarantees the non-application of the law” which bans the platform in the United States unless its Chinese owner agrees to sell it.
