Wengen descent – Frenchman Blaise Giezendanner airlifted after a fall

New fear on the slopes. Frenchman Blaise Giezendanner had to be airlifted after a fall on Saturday during the descent of Wengen, counting for the Alpine Skiing World Cup. The left knee of the 33-year-old skier from Chamonix seemed to give way in a curve and the Frenchman ended his race in the net. We saw him talking with his trainer before being evacuated by helicopter.

Before him, the Austrian Vincent Kriechmayr, second Friday in the super-G, had also fallen heavily, but was able to get up alone. He left the finish area limping, also visibly injured in one knee. The start of the season was marked by the fall of Frenchman Cyprien Sarrazin at the end of December in Bormio. Seriously injured in the head, he began a long rehabilitation.
