The Gabri depression is leading a large part of Corsica into an orange “rain-flood” vigilance episode throughout this weekend.
Weather France announced on its website placing Corsica on orange “rain-flood” vigilance from this Saturday January 18, 8 p.m. for the South Corsica et 10 p.m. for the Upper Corsicadue to the Gabri depression.
“The rain-storm degradation will affect the south of the island late Saturday afternoon before extending to a large eastern half of the island during the night from Saturday to Sunday and Sunday,” specifies Météo France, adding that “some light or even very light rain is observed in the south-east of Corsica.”
Regarding the mountainssnow quantities “above 1500 m will also be remarkable.”
Expanding more and more
Southern Corsica will be affected by strong thunderstorms from the end of the afternoon, while Haute-Corse will see its rains spread over its region and strengthen. On Sunday, they will concern the entire island.
-By Sunday evening, the expected accumulations will reach “150 to 220 mm” in the form of “snow above 1500 m”. On the coast and coastal plains, these accumulations will be “40 to 60 mm”.
This orange vigilance should end tomorrow, at the end of the day.
