The Stone of Madness Demo Update: Mandatory Reboot and Key Improvements!

The Stone of Madness demo on Steam has been updated, and progress from the old version will not be carried over. This is what you can expect from this new version.

The Stone of Madness has received a big update for its Steam demo, bringing it in line with the final version of the game which is arriving soon. This update includes plenty of improvements based on feedback from players who tested the previous version during Steam Nextfest.

The Stone of Madness: Demo Update Available

The Stone of Madness releases on January 28, but in the meantime, the devs have made the wait sweeter with a new updated demo on Steam.

New features include a smoother tutorial experience, revised guard placements and routes, significant gameplay balance adjustments, and improved controls. Mouse navigation and object interaction detection have also been optimized for an even smoother experience.

This update also adds practical improvements to the interface, such as a clearer skill legend on the HUD, a panel to display deployed characters, and notifications when new guards arrive. On the technical side, issues such as climbing animations, cutscene bugs and localization errors have been fixed. Performance has also been optimized, with reduced GPU load and better memory management.

However, please note that the progress made in the previous demo will not be retained in this updated version or in the full game. But don’t worry, by launching the main game you can skip the prologue, which is covered in this demo.

The demo takes about two hours to complete and doesn’t include any achievements, but the full game’s prologue will.

To celebrate the upcoming release, The Stone of Madness is up for pre-order with a 10% discount on Steam, Epic Games Store, and Xbox. For the Playstation version, the discount is reserved for Playstation Plus members.
