Ja Morant, star of the Memphis Grizzlies, had to withdraw from the long-awaited return match against the San Antonio Spurs due to pain in his right foot. This absence is particularly significant, as it makes Morant ineligible for NBA postseason awards, having now missed 18 games this season.
According to NBA regulations, a player must participate in a minimum of 65 games to be eligible for selection, including for the prestigious All-NBA teams and the MVP award. With this latest setback, Morant’s maximum number of matches played is now reduced to 64.
