the essential
About ten days ago, a fire ravaged the O Thé Gourmand establishment. The manager spoke in our columns about the management of the disaster.
Disappointed but not discouraged. This is how Esma Guebbas, who has run O Thé Gourmand since 2019, an establishment well known to Léguevinois, is experiencing the current period. Monday, January 6, at dawn in the evening, a major fire destroyed the entire interior of his tea room. An investigation entrusted to the Léguevin gendarmerie is currently underway to determine the circumstances of the tragedy. “There had already been an attempt last November,” she admits. “Unfortunately this time, I can only see the damage.”
The manager would immediately like to thank the police, “the firefighters, quickly alerted by the neighbors, arrived in just a few minutes. Without their rapid intervention, the consequences could have been dramatic. I would also like to salute the support from the Léguevin gendarmerie and the municipality, who immediately stood by me on site during this painful ordeal.”
-Since then, Esma has received significant support from those close to her and regulars of this local business. “I have had a lot of affection since then, from all my customers who come to the news. I even learned that a prize pool had been launched on a dedicated platform. I sincerely want to thank everyone . O Thé Gourmand, it’s more than a tea room, it’s for me a meeting place that promotes social connections.”
A next move
The merchant now wants to move forward, since, well before the fire, she had initiated a move to premises located a few meters away, avenue de Gascogne. “Of course we will have to re-equip everything since none of my work tools or furniture can be reused, but I have high hopes of being ready to open in February” she concludes. In the meantime, Esma continues to fulfill her cake orders from home, in a desire for resilience in the face of this painful ordeal.
