Omar Marmoush Ready To Join Manchester City As Eintracht Confirm Talks

In a significant development for both player and club, Omar Marmoush looks set to join Manchester City, as Eintracht Frankfurt have confirmed ongoing discussions with the Premier League giants. The Egyptian striker is expected to leave Frankfurt, where he was absent from the squad during Friday’s Bundesliga match, where the team earned a 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund.

After the match, Marmoush was seen on the field with his teammates, appearing to say goodbye to fans who showed their appreciation. “I mentioned before that we were in talks with a club, and now it’s Manchester City. We have been in close contact over the last one or two days,” Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krösche said in an interview, emphasizing the closeness of the negotiations.

Krösche also highlighted the potential implications of the move, calling it a “huge opportunity” for Marmoush. “We will monitor developments in the coming hours and perhaps days, but the probability of his departure is very high now,” he added.

Reports suggest that a possible deal for Marmoush could involve a transfer fee of around €75 million, with a further €5 million in performance bonuses. The striker has been in impressive form this season, scoring 15 goals in 17 Bundesliga appearances, being just one goal behind the league’s top scorer Harry Kane. In all competitions, he has scored a total of 20 goals in 26 matches.

Marmoush’s potential move to City marks a remarkable progression in his career, having joined Frankfurt on a free in 2023 from Wolfsburg, where he scored just five goals the previous season. His current contract with Frankfurt runs until 2027.

Interestingly, Manchester City recently extended the contract of their star striker, Erling Haaland, until 2034, signaling their intention to strengthen their attacking options while considering the addition of Marmoush.
