Death of Denis Law: the football legend, Golden Ball in 1964, died at the age of 84

Denis Law, hundreds of goals, two English championship titles and a Ballon d’Or

Of Scottish origin, Denis Law began his sporting career at the English club Huddersfield Town, then moved to the Italian club Torino before joining Manchester Uniteda club with which he won the English championship title in 1965 and 1967, as well as the European Cup in 1968. He was the third highest scorer in the club’s history, with 237 goals scored in 404 matches (behind Wayne Rooney and Bobby Charlton). In the Scottish team, which he joined at the age of 18, in 1958, he scored 30 goals in 55 caps. He was thus the top scorer in Scottish team history. He was also the only Scot to have won the Ballon d’Or, in 1964. Denis Law – who retired from sport in 1974 – was the oldest winner of the prestigious award still alive. It is Gianni Rivera, Italian footballer, who won the Ballon d’Or in 1969, who takes over from Denis Low.
