Algeria – Tunisia: same situation, same explanations
Finding offensive efficiency could be the key in this match between two teams who reached the podium of the last CAN. The Algerian African vice-champions and the Tunisian bronze medalists have respectively 45% and 46% shooting success rates. Among the teams which have already played two matches, only Kuwait is also below 50% (43.2%).
The Algerian Ayyoub Abdi (12 goals) and the Tunisian Anouar Ben Abdullah (11 goals) have already passed the ten-goal mark. In vain so far. Their teams can count on them to set the sights, but the two stars won’t be able to do everything either.
A decisive World Championship match requires everyone to put in a little more, a derby demands it!
You will therefore have to raise your level of play to hope to continue the adventure in the main round.
This is particularly the case for goalkeepers. Khalifa Ghedbane failed to make an impact in Algeria’s first two matches despite his Bundesliga experience. On the Tunisian coast, the right recipe has not yet been found with three goalkeepers already used: Yassine Belkaied, Fradj Ben Tekaya et Mohamed Sfar.
-Same issues, same situation, same problem: what could change this match which promises to be as spectacular as it is indecisive? Experience perhaps!
Tunisia’s ability to recover from the most complex situations no longer needs to be proven. During the last two World Championships, the semi-finalists of the 2005 edition managed to win the President’s Cup after a complex preliminary round. The Tunisians notably beat Algeria (30-25) two years ago, as in their two previous confrontations on a global level.
It doesn’t matter if it’s time for a revenge or a confirmation, the time has come to seek a place in the main round of the 2025 Handball World Cup for Algeria and Tunisia.
