World Anti-Doping Agency could appeal Swiatek’s case

While Iga Swiatek is qualified for the 3rd round of the Australian Open, where she will face Emma Raducanu on Saturday, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is reportedly in the process of reviewing her doping case which was revealed in November.

According to the Italian media Ubitennis, WADA could appeal its contamination with trimetazidine. But he only has four days left to make a decision, since January 21 is the deadline to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

While waiting to know if this matter will experience a new twist, a WADA spokesperson sent this short email to the Ubitennis website:

-

“WADA has no comment on the specifics of the Swiatek case, which is still under review. »

Like the appeal made against the doping case which concerns Jannik Sinner, Iga Swiatek could therefore find herself in the same situation in a few days, in the middle of the Australian Open.
