Stéphane Venne dies at the age of 83

It’s a sad day for Quebec as songwriter Stéphane Venne has just lost his life at the age of 83.

The Montreal Journal reports that he left us surrounded by his loved ones.

Stéphane Venne is an essential Quebec songwriter whose work has marked the history of French-speaking music.

Born July 2, 1941 in Montreal, he left an indelible mark thanks to his talents as a lyricist and composer, having written more than 400 songs during his career. Her works, often imbued with poetry and great sensitivity, have been interpreted by iconic artists such as Isabelle Pierre, Renée Claude, and Ginette Reno. Among his most famous compositions, we find The beginning of a new timea song that captured the spirit of renewal and modernity of the 1970s in Quebec.
