the Israeli government approved the truce agreement with Hamas

The Israeli government validated, on the night of Friday January 17 to Saturday January 18, the truce plan with Hamas. This agreement provides for the release of hostages held in Gaza in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. “The government has approved the plan to release the hostages,” said the office of the Prime Minister of the Jewish state, Benjamin Netanyahu, in a brief statement.

“The plan to release the hostages will come into force on Sunday January 19, 2025“, specifies this text. The Israeli government met this Friday, January 17, to give its final approval. The United States notably announced, in the middle of the week, that an agreement for a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of hostages, had been found between Israel and Hamas.

Benjamin Netanyahu accused Hamas on Thursday of slowing down the negotiations. Emmanuel Macron announced this Friday that the Franco-Israelis Ofer Kalderon et Ohad Yahalomi are on the list of hostages available for release from the first phase. “We are very impatient but also very worried,” confided Hadas Kalderon, the ex-wife of Ofer Kalderon, to RTL.
