Tickets will go on sale next Wednesday, through Ticketmaster. The concert will also be broadcast on television in the United States and streamed in the rest of the world. The press release announcing the event specifies that the benefits will go to the victims of the fires, in the short and long term.
At least 27 dead
Since the start of the fires, at least 27 people have lost their lives and thousands more have been displaced. At the start of the week, Joe Biden announced immediate aid for each victim, of $770, making it possible to purchase all basic necessities. He also promised federal aid to help rebuild destroyed homes.
Many private donations have already been made. NBC News notably reports that Steve Ballmer, owner of the Los Angeles Clippers, who play at the Intuit Dome, has promised $15 million. Other sports and Hollywood organizations as well as celebrities have also made donations, including the Walt Disney Company, which also pledged $15 million. On social media, Taylor Swift shared a post indicating that she had also made a donation. Beyoncé and Paris Hilton have done the same.
