LONDON — Manchester City have secured an impressive ten-year contract extension for striker Erling Haaland, tying the 24-year-old Norwegian international to the English club until 2034, the club announced via its official channels.

The northern English club revealed the deal, which extends Haaland’s contract, which was originally set to expire in June 2027.

“Erling is here to stay! We are delighted to announce that Erling Haaland has extended his contract with City until 2034,” the team said on social media platform X.

In a high-profile announcement accompanied by several videos showing the contract signing process and a letter from the striker addressed to City fans, the club ensured the continuity of one of the most decisive players in world football, who broke numerous scoring records.

This season he has scored 16 goals in 21 league appearances and a total of 21 goals in 28 matches. After just two seasons, he is now the fifteenth top scorer in the club’s prestigious history.

“Manchester City is a special club, full of fantastic people and incredible fans, and it provides an environment that allows you to perform at your best,” said Haaland.

He also extended his gratitude to manager Pep Guardiola, thanking him, the coaching staff and his teammates, for their support during his time at the club.

The news of the extension represents a significant vote of confidence in City’s project, especially in light of one of the club’s most difficult seasons and a looming disciplinary process for breaching Premier League financial regulations.

Txiki Begiristain, the club’s sporting director, said: “The length of the contract reflects our commitment to him as a player and his love for this club.”
