Former Salzburg player Erling Haaland has made a major decision regarding his sporting future by signing a long-term contract with Manchester City.
The new deal for the Norwegian star striker with the “Sky Blues” is valid for nine and a half years, running until the summer of 2034. If no transfer takes place by then, Haaland will be almost 34 when his contract will expire. This indicates that the striker could spend almost his entire career in Manchester. His previous contract would have lasted until June 2027.
Haaland’s contract is still considered one of the best in football.
According to various media, the contract extension will also be accompanied by a significant salary increase. The Athletic and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano suggest the deal could be one of the most lucrative in football history.

Romano also claims that Haaland’s current release clause will be removed from the contract. This clause allowed other clubs to acquire the Norwegian striker for around 200 million euros. However, a similar clause will be included in the new contract but will only become valid from 2029 and is expected to exceed the fee by 200 million euros.
“A special club”
-“Manchester City is a special club with fantastic people and great supporters, and it’s the kind of environment that brings out the best in everyone,” Haaland said in the club’s official statement. “I want to continue to develop, work to become better and give my best to help us achieve more success in the future. » He is now “City, whatever happens”.
The star striker arrived in England in the summer of 2022 for around 60 million euros from Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund. Under manager Pep Guardiola, Haaland helped City win the treble in 2023, winning the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League. Last season, Manchester also managed to defend their Premier League title. Haaland has scored 111 goals in 126 appearances for City, setting numerous records in a short space of time.
