(Jean Girard)- After maintaining its 4th position in the standings with its victory in Daveluyville, the Sauro slipped to 5th place, following the 4-2 defeat against Coaticook at the Mégantic Sports Center on Friday, January 10.
The match started well as Jacob Turmel gave the locals a 1-0 lead at 16:54, which proved to be short-lived with Mathan Hardy’s reply at 18:49, during two simultaneous penalties at two Sauro players at 6:35 p.m.
From the start of the midpoint, at 1:20, Mathis Dufour gave Dynamik a 2-1 lead, and at 7:15, Charles-Olivier Nadeau brought the two teams back into a tie with his goal. Dufour scored his second goal at 11:52 and some 3 minutes and 23 seconds later, Antonin Fréchette gave the Coaticook team a two-goal lead, during a second sequence of play with five players against three.
-The 3rd period took place without any goals from either side, despite the 15 shots of the Sauro players against the 8 of the opponents. Philippe-Antoine Trépanier, the visitors’ goalkeeper, gave in on 2 of the 46 shots from the Sauro players. Sauro’s Justin Fréchette blocked 33 shots, allowing two goals on two power play opportunities from two visitors’ players. Apart from these two superiority opportunities, the Sauro players featured just as much as the opponents and the result could have been different.
In the standings, Dynamik occupies 4th place with 21 points in 17 games while Sauro follows with 21 points, but in 18 games. Sauro’s next opponent at the Mégantic Sports Center, on Friday January 17 at 8:30 p.m., will be Princeville.
