Neymar claims PSG failed due to ‘ego’, admits ‘slight argument’ with Mbappé

Brazilian striker Neymar has expressed that giant PSG, where he played alongside Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé, failed because of the players’ “egos”, saying the French star was jealous of his good relationship with the Argentinian icon.

“You have to realize that you don’t play alone. You need the other person next to you: ‘I’m the best, okay’, but who is going to give you the ball? You need good people to provide you with the ball,” Neymar said in an interview with former Brazilian striker Romário, published on Thursday.

“It was everyone’s ego. One game was one, the next was another, the next was four, five games in a row, so it couldn’t work. Nowadays, if anyone don’t run, if no one helps each other, it’s impossible to win,” he added on the Romário YouTube channel.

The 32-year-old, who has worn the ’10’ jersey for the Brazilian national team, shared the PSG dressing room with Mbappé and Messi between 2021 and 2023. Although the trio have raised significant expectations, they do not failed to win the UEFA Champions League, the club’s great ambition.
