In a striking development, MLS franchise Chicago Fire are reportedly targeting Neymar Jr., looking to secure his signature with a deal similar to the one that saw Lionel Messi join Inter Miami in 2023. The Brazilian striker has previously played alongside Messi during their respective spells at Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
Neymar’s current contract with Al-Hilal is due to end in June 2025. However, given the injury problems that have plagued his time in Saudi Arabia, it is looking increasingly likely that he will part ways with the club. Since his arrival at Al-Hilal, Neymar has made only seven appearances, scoring only one goal, accompanied by three assists.
Rumors of a potential Messi reunion at Inter Miami are circulating, but it appears Chicago Fire are determined to lure Neymar with an extremely competitive financial package.

According to reports from GiveMeSport, Chicago Fire has started preliminary discussions with Neymar’s entourage. They would obviously be ready to offer the Brazilian a salary closely resembling that of Messi, supplemented by incentives linked to sponsors. Messi’s earnings are estimated to be around $20 million per year, as listed in the MLS Player Salary Guide.
Currently, Neymar’s annual salary at Al-Hilal is around $100 million, a sum that exceeds any potential offer from MLS clubs. Reports indicate that Neymar’s entourage is seeking a salary that exceeds the current proposal, suggesting negotiations could be complex.
As of now, Chicago Fire are the only MLS club actively engaged in talks for Neymar, despite previous speculation surrounding a possible reunion with Messi at Inter Miami.

They played a key role in Barcelona’s remarkable treble victory in the 2014-15 season. Although Neymar has not shared the pitch with Suarez since leaving Barcelona in 2017, he reunited with Messi at PSG in 2021. Together, Messi and Neymar have stepped on the pitch 206 times, contributing to 67 goals collectively.
