Dallas Stars Quarter-Century Teams

The NHL celebrates the best of the last 25 years by unveiling the quarter-century teams from each of the 32 NHL franchises and the Arizona Coyotes.

Each team is represented by a first team and a second team, each made up of six players – three attackers, two defenders and a goalkeeper – who played for that franchise after January 1, 2000. The players from the first and second teams were selected by members of the national and local media, by NHL.com journalists who covered these teams as well as by former players.

The six players who were selected for the first team of each team will have their names placed on the ballot for the NHL All-Star Team of the Quarter Century, which will be determined by a vote of the fans who will begin in February.

Attackers: Fifth round pick (129e in total) during the 2007 draft, Benn is currently the cornerstone of the franchise for which he has been the captain since September 19, 2013. He is the one who has collected the most points in the last quarter of a century of the Stars with 935 (394 goals, 541 assists) in 1151 matches. He won the Ross Trophy, awarded to the NHL’s top scorer in the regular season, in 2015, when he amassed 87 points. Lehtinen was an outstanding two-way player. Winner of the Selke Trophy three times as best defensive forward (1998, 1999 and 2003), the right winger is the last player who is not a center to have won this award. He recorded 343 points (175 goals, 168 assists) in 600 games between 2000 and his retirement in 2010. Finally, Modano was the face of the Stars until his final season in 2009-10. He won the Cup with Dallas in 1999 and scored 592 points (232 goals, 360 assists) in 713 games starting in 2000. Modano was inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 2012, in the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2014, and was named one of the 100 greatest players in NHL history in 2017.

Defenders : Two of the best in Stars history pair up here. Heiskanen scored 276 points (57 goals, 219 assists) in 464 games, while being used an average of 24:31 per game. Zubov won the Cup with Dallas in 1999 and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2019. His 374 points (73 goals, 301 assists) in 568 games tie him for the Stars’ lead among defensemen since 1is January 2000.

Guardian : Turco spent most of his career with the Stars (2000 to 2010), posting a record of 262-154-37 with 26 ties, a 2.31 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage. , in addition to having signed 40 shutouts, in 509 games during this quarter-century period.

Ed Belfour

Attackers: Captain of the Stars from 2006 to 2013, Morrow brought aggressiveness, robust play and offense during his stay in Dallas. He collected 522 points (240 goals, 282 assists) in 814 games. Pavelski’s talent for redirecting and deflecting pucks was exceptional. He recorded 307 points (121 goals, 186 assists) in 369 games over five seasons with the Stars, before retiring on July 16, 2024. Seguin has played for Dallas since being acquired in a trade with the Bruins from Boston on July 4, 2013. He totaled 687 points (304 goals, 383 assists) in 785 games, second behind Benn in this quarter-century period.

Defenders: Klingberg played for the Stars from 2014 to 2022, recording 374 points (71 goals, 303 assists) in 552 games. Lindell made his NHL debut in 2015-16 and has established himself as a regular on Dallas’ blue line since. The Finn scored 204 points (52 goals, 152 assists) in 643 games.

Guardian : Three of Belfour’s five seasons with the Stars were played in the 2000s. He won the Cup in 1999 and returned to the Grand Final the following season, this time suffering a six-game loss to the New Jersey Devils. Belfour, inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2011, went 74-56-0 with 21 ties, a 2.39 GAA and a 905 save percentage and posted 11 shutouts in 153 games after the 1is January 2000.
