Huge disappointment for Stade Brestois supporters. They will not be able to gather on January 29 at the Arena, the largest performance hall in the city (5,000 seats), to encourage their team which will host the great Real Madrid in Guingamp, on behalf of the 8th and last day of the first phase of the Champions League.
The refusal comes directly from UEFA. The organizer of the competition, in agreement with the broadcaster, Canal +, explains that the latter wants to limit itself to the broadcast of a single match of this type of broadcast per club, for the season. However, on November 26, nearly 4,000 Stade Brestois supporters had already vibrated together (despite the 0-3 defeat against Barcelona) in the fan zone set up at Brest Expo, at Parc de Penfeld.
In a press release published this Thursday, the municipality regrets this fact and gives the reasons: “We will not be able to organize this fan zone,” reacts François Cuillandre, the mayor. I regret that the exceptional course of the SB29 (Eric Roy’s team is 7th in the ranking) cannot be shared by a larger number of spectators in a friendly, festive and secure setting such as this fan zone allowed. »
