The Switch 2 is official, Nintendo presented the console in a trailer. Previously, the director of the Japanese firm had confirmed that it would be backward compatible and the company confirms it again. What games will be backwards compatible with Nintendo Switch 2?
We already know that the Switch 2 will be accompanied by Mario Kart 9 but also from the catalog of the current generation. We are still talking about nearly 12,000 titles but not all of them are worth the detour for players. However, Nintendo explains that “Some Nintendo Switch titles may be incompatible or not fully compatible with Nintendo Switch 2”.
Except that the Japanese giant does not specify (yet?) the list of games that will not be backwards compatible with the Nintendo Switch 2. We expect Nintendo to tell us more during the Direct scheduled for April 2, while the console can be tried out just after, in Paris, during a draw.
The presentation video shows us a console significantly resembling the current Nintendo Switch. The Japanese company has still prepared new features such as magnetic Joy-Con and the possibility of transforming the controllers into mice. As for the release date, nothing has been communicated by Nintendo. An expert of Bloomberg talks about the month of June 2026 for the release of the Switch 2.
