Nintendo has officially announced the Switch 2, confirming the many rumors and leaks surrounding this console. The announcement was made via a teaser video published on the giant’s official account on the YouTube platform. It offers a first glimpse of the design and some features.
The Switch 2 sports a sleek design in black, with a slightly larger size than its predecessor. There is, at first glance, no revolution on the design side. The video highlights several improvements, including a redesign of the famous Joy-Cons.

Although details are not revealed, Nintendo is talking about a more robust built-in stand and a dedicated dock included with the console. A new game Mario Kart makes its appearance although no official title or release date has been announced. Backward compatibility with games from the first Switch has also been reconfirmed. However, be careful, there are restrictions: not all games will be supported, according to a disclaimer displayed in the video.
-Nintendo also announces a special event planned for 2 avril 2025where additional details will be offered including its specifications, its game library, and probably its launch date and price.
As GinjFo announced yesterday, this first announcement suggests a cautious but promising evolution of Nintendo’s hybrid console. With better hardware support and modern technologies (potentially DLSS and an improved GPU based on the NVIDIA Ampere architecture, according to leaks), the Switch 2 aims to attract its fans and new users.
We just have to wait for the April event to find out more.
