“Mario Kart 9” finally announced?

In the video unveiling the successor to the Nintendo Switch, the Japanese company offered a glimpse of a Mario Kart game that seems new.

The presentation of the Nintendo Switch 2 could be accompanied by a new Mario Kart opus. Having unveiled its future console in a video this Thursday, January 16, the Japanese company also gives an overview of what looks like a new opus in the franchise Mario Kart.

We see Mario and his friends competing on a “Mario Bros Circuit” located in a desert. An unknown circuit in the universe of Mario Kart. Some characters, like Donkey Kong, also sport a new look.

Mario Kart 9, Nintendo Switch 2 launch game

According to rumors, it is possible that this new opus will be the launch game for the Nintendo Switch 2. Potentially named Mario Kart 9it would therefore be presented in more detail on April 2, the day when the company will officially reveal its future console and will also unveil its games catalog.

This would come 11 years after the release of the last opus of the franchise, Mario Kart 8which dates back to May 2014. For the moment, Nintendo has not revealed any information on the game seen in its video. It is also not included in the list of games announced for 2025 on the company’s website.
