An MMO in sight for Nintendo?

Among the endless leaks about the Nintendo Switch 2we also find leaks about a not-so-top-secret project developed by Nintendo. In October 2024, the Japanese giant announced the Nintendo Switch Online: Playtest Programa test only offered to subscribers to Nintendo Switch Online + Additional Pack and aiming to try out a potential new addition to the paid service. This playtest took place from October 24, 2024 to November 6, 2024, and despite Nintendo’s requests to keep the project secret, the leaks started at the end of October. At the time, numerous screenshots were leaked, and a 4-hour livestream was even broadcast by one contestant, revealing almost everything about the game in question. According to leaks, it would be an MMO in the same vein as Minecraft et Robloxwhere players must work together to develop a planet from the ground up.

A project that no longer has any secrets

To do this, players must create zones and the associated environment until they completely cover the planet. They also have access to a social hub where they can level up their characters, obtain items, and interact with other players. According to the leaks, customization would be the key word of this MMO, at least in the areas specific to each player, since it is not possible to modify those of others. Sharing personalized content would also be required, but is only accessible in-game after passing a test. A measure put in place by Nintendo to promote respect between players.

The leaks that surfaced in October 2024 only contained information about this MMO project, but this week, it’s the program itself that leaked onto the Web. All game assets have been made available, including its soundtrack. Unfortunately, the program is not playable as issince it requires an Internet connection, and connecting to a network with playtest data on a console could result in bans and legal repercussions.
