Violent fire from apartment to Setethis Thursday, January 16, 2025 at dawn: seventeen tenants were evacuated, four were poisoned after inhaling fumes.

It was around 5:30 a.m. this Thursday when the alert was given by residents awakened from their sleep by a burning smell and thick smoke in the common areas and staircases of the four floors of a building on rue Danton.

THE Hérault firefighters were quickly mobilized in numbers, including a large automatic pivoting ladder to stop any spread of the flames.

The 71-year-old tenant whose apartment burned, as well as three other residents, were slightly poisoned by the smoke and examined on site by a doctor from the Smur-Samu 34. Only the septuagenarian was transported to the Thau basin hospital, inconvenienced by the fumes of course, but above all in a state of shock. She is out of danger.

Firefighters and police evacuated the 17 residents of the building. The fire was able to be limited to the only dwelling which was completely engulfed in flames when the first “fire soldiers” arrived. The cause of this fire is currently unknown; an investigation has been opened by police officers from the Sète-Frontignan police station.

At Grau-du-Roi

> In the Gard, this Thursday morning also, the Hérault firefighters came from the La Grande-Motte barracks, reinforced their colleagues from Sdis 30 for an apartment fire in Grau-du-Roi. Emergency services discovered the 65-year-old tenant dead on the sofa in the main room.
