Dakar, January 15 (APS) – The Head of State drew the attention of members of the government to the urgency of accelerating the modernization of transport, on the basis of the conclusions of the states general of the said sector, it was reported learned, Wednesday, from the Minister of Vocational Training, government spokesperson, Amadou Moustapha Njekk Sarré.
”The President of the Republic emphasized the urgency of accelerating the modernization of transport in all its compartments, following the conclusions of the general meetings of the sector,” wrote Mr. Sarré in the press release of the Council of Ministers.
Bassirou Diomaye Faye ”asked the Prime Minister and the Minister of Infrastructure and Land and Air Transport to finalize the government’s action plan for the modernization of land transport”.
According to the government spokesperson, the Head of State wants the execution agenda and legal, logistical, administrative, fiscal and financial constraints to be taken into account.
”He reminded the government (…) of the need to adopt a special system for regulating the circulation of mopeds, in accordance with the highway code and the measures prescribed for the transport of people in well-targeted areas and localities” , reports Mr. Sarré.
According to the press release from the Council of Ministers, the Head of State invited the Minister of Infrastructure and Land and Air Transport to intensify the renewal of wide-body aircraft, urban and interurban transport vehicles.
”He asked the government to include the transport sector as a priority area in the deployment of incentives to promote the employability and decent employment of young people,” says the same source.
She adds that ”the government will have to accentuate the development of professional training instruments (drivers, mechanics, etc.) and better security of ‘informal jobs’ in the sector through the organization of actors, their adequate financing” .
Bassirou Diomaye Faye recommends ”the gradual conclusion of regular employment contracts accompanied by systematic social security coverage”.
”The mechanisms of the national State-employer convention and universal health coverage must be used in this sense,” states the press release in the Council of Ministers, quoting the President of the Republic.
