Star network buses have been stopped this Thursday morning since 6 a.m. In a tweet, the public transport network effectively means that all buses are unable to make the usual routes due to of a technical incident. According to our information, this giant breakdown will not be resolved anytime soon. We explain why.
Communication broken
The concern lies in the communication system between the PC Bus and the drivers. “We can no longer receive information or communicate with the PC Bus (which is located in the Baud plain, at the Keolis bus depot, Editor’s note)”, explains Philippe Simon, bus driver in the metropolis.
In fact, this system, called “ SAE system (operational support system, Editor’s note)», specifies the communication from the Keolis group to the editorial staff ofnews Rennesis not functional.
This SAE system makes it possible to geolocate buses, in particular. Through this system, drivers can report what is happening in real time on the network. In other words, it allows you to organize the entire life of the network.
A power outage
According to our information, this significant failure occurred this night, after a power outage. A system reset which changed some essential features.
-So, since this morning, 6 a.m., the system has been working “ in degraded mode », specifies Philippe Simon. Certain buses from the Star network – as well as chartered buses (Keolis, BreizhGo, Ilévia, etc.) – which circulated early in the morning were called to return to the depot.
“No visibility”
This is why, “forsecurity issues in transport between travelers and the network”, the Star buses are at a stop this morning.
When will traffic resume? This breakdown comes at a bad time as the Ille-et-Vilaine department is experiencing a peak in fine particle pollution. For the moment, the Keolis group’s communication states that it does not have “visibility» about the day.
“The STAR network teams arefully mobilized to resolve this situationas soon as possible,” says Keolis.
