The government of François Bayrou
François Bayrou made two gestures towards the socialists, promising to submit to Parliament an agreement, even partial, from the social partners on pensions, and renouncing the 4,000 job cuts in National Education.
The First Secretary of the Socialist Party Olivier Faure asked on TF1, in order not to vote on the motion of censure which will be examined on Thursday, that Parliament be seized, whatever the conclusions of the “conclave” unions and employers planned for three months on the question of pensions.

MOTION OF CENSORSHIP
Will François Bayrou’s government see spring? In any case, he will have to face a first test today with the examination in the National Assembly of a motion of censure which, even if it should ultimately not be adopted, will make it possible to clarify the position of the socialists.
Barely three weeks old, the government did not symbolically request the confidence of the Assembly on Tuesday after the Prime Minister’s general policy speech. Like his predecessor, he is deprived of a majority.
In return, the elected officials of La France insoumise, who continue to demand the resignation of Emmanuel Macron, tabled a motion of censure, the 150th of the Fifth Republic. The text is also signed by communist and environmentalist deputies. But by no socialist.
At the PS, despite long discussions, the decision to vote or not on the motion of censure was finally postponed… until this Thursday.
The Prime Minister responded in part to this request in the Assembly, then in his General Policy Declaration in the Senate.
If the PS votes for censorship, the government will not fall
The 66 PS deputies met on Wednesday to decide on their position on the motion of censure tabled by their left-wing allies, LFI in the lead, which was joined by the Communists and the Environmentalists. At the end of the meeting, however, no decision had been made. “The authorities of the Socialist Party and the group in the Assembly will meet before the censure debate“, the party leadership told AFP on Wednesday evening.
If the PS chose to vote for censure on Thursday afternoon, the government would not fall, because the National Rally has decided not to join in.
