Two French people are among the list of hostages who may soon be released. France Info correspondents were able to meet the family of one of them, who has been living in waiting and anxiety since October 2023.
Since the afternoon, Hadas Calderon has been waiting for the ceasefire announcement in front of his television. For 47 days she has been hoping for the release of the father of her children, a hostage of Hamas in Gaza. “I am already imagining the moment when I will see Ofer and the moment when his children will fall into his arms”she hopes.
Ofer Calderon, 54, is a carpenter and today one of the two French-Israeli hostages. His entire family has been mobilizing for more than 15 months for his freedom. Between anguish and hope, Hadas does not know if Ofer Calderon is part of the list of 33 hostages who will be released first. “It’s really torture what’s happening to us. It’s an emotional roller coaster. This is madness”raconte Hadas Calderon.
The horror for the Calderon family begins on a kibbutz barely two kilometers from Gaza. Today uninhabited, it still bears traces of the attack of October 7, 2023. That morning, the terrorists filmed certain kidnappings such as that of one of the two Calderon children. After 52 days of detention, he and his sister were released, reunited with their mother. The father remains in captivity.
