“In recent days, we have spoken as a team,” the US president said Wednesday evening in a speech at the White House.

American President Joe Biden said, Wednesday January 15, that he had worked in “team” with his successor Donald Trump, who takes office on Monday, to conclude the truce agreement between Israel and Hamas. “I would also like to note that this agreement was designed under my administration, but its terms will be implemented substantially by the next administration. In recent days, we have spoken as a team.”he said in a speech at the White House.

Donald Trump’s future special envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, was involved alongside representatives of the Biden administration in discussions held under the aegis of Qatar and Egypt. “We have an agreement on the hostages in the Middle East. They will be released soon”announced American President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday on his Truth Social network, before Joe Biden spoke.

“Donald Trump took everyone by surprise”estimated on franceinfo Frédéric Charillon, university professor of political science, specialist in international relations, and former director of the Strategic Research Institute of the Military School. For him, the American president-elect “will try to play” on the coincidence between “his arrival” at the White House, and the fact that “things are settling down”, between Israel and Hamas.
