“It smelled like it was burning, it was quite violent”: the shock, after the death of a 6-year-old child in a fire

This Tuesday around 9:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., and for a reason still unknown at this stage, a fire broke out in the apartment inhabited by a mother and her son, in an HLM residence located rue du Calvaire, in Noyon. According to the first elements communicated by Guillaume Dupont, the public prosecutor of Compiègne, the 46-year-old woman jumped from the 1st floor to escape the flames and notify emergency services. Her 6-year-old son, who remained in his room, was found unresponsive by firefighters. Dispatched to the site in large numbers alongside the Smur teams, they tried in vain to resuscitate the child. The latter was declared dead.
