Families of hostages celebrate in Tel Aviv after Hamas-Israel ceasefire deal announced

Israel and Hamas accepted this agreement on Wednesday January 15, which puts an end to 15 months of a war which left tens of thousands dead in the Palestinian territory. The release of hostages held in the Gaza Strip since the bloody Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023 was a central point of negotiations between the different parties. Of 251 people kidnapped on October 7, 2023, 94 are still held hostage in Gaza, 34 of whom are dead according to the Israeli army.
