Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock will make his comeback on Disney+ in the series Daredevil : Born Againwhich was revealed in a first trailer that hits hard.
Before Disney launched its own platform, several Marvel series were hosted on Netflix as part of a partnership which ended with the arrival of Disney+, the idea being to house all the heroes and licenses under one roof. The six series that formed a shared universe – Daredevil, Jessica Jones, The Punisher, Luke Cage, Iron Fist et The Defenders – were therefore canceled, sometimes without any real conclusion, before disappearing from the catalog of the streaming giant and joining that of the company with big ears.
We do not yet know if after this early retirement, Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones will one day return to service, just like Finn Jones’ Iron Fist or Mike Colter’s Luke Cage. But Daredevil will make his returnafter his discreet arrival in the MCU. Technically, Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock has joined the universe of Kevin Feige and the Avengers since his cameo in Spider-Man : No Way Home end of 2021. He also made an appearance in the series Echo (which also brought back Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk) and She-Hulk : Avocate.
But more than one-off events, the demon of Hell’s Kitchen will be entitled to his own series, Daredevil : Born Againwhich will serve as a sequel to Drew Goddard’s Netflix series.
DAREDEVIL ET DAREDESCHAMPS
In addition to the return of Charlie Cox and his character, the other promise from Marvel and Disney was to find all the violence and darkness from the 2015 series which was rated TV-MA in the United States, meaning unsuitable for those under 17. If the promise still seemed far-fetched six months ago, the release of Deadpool & Wolverine in July 2024 paved the way since it was the first feature film rated R (prohibited to minors unaccompanied by an adult).
And judging by the number of screams of pain and broken bones in the first trailer for Daredevil : Born Againthe series headed and co-created by Dario Scardapane will indeed not skimp on violence.
DAREDEVIL SEASON 4: LOTS OF RETURNS
On the casting side, in addition to Charlie Cox who finds his red costume, the series will also mark the return of Jon Bernthal in the skin and bulletproof vest of Frank Castle aka the Punisher – who participated in season 2 of Daredevil before having his own solo series. Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk will also be there, this time as mayor of the citywhich should (re)trigger hostilities between the two men as their falsely relaxed face-to-face strongly suggests.
However, this will not be the only villain on the loose since Benjamin Pointdexter aka Bullseye, played by Wilson Bethel, will also join the reunion after his time in the original series. Matt Murdock will, however, be able to count on his allies, Karen Page, still played by Deborah Ann Woll, and Foggy Nelson who will once again have the features of Elden Henson.
Among the new recruits, there will be Margarita Levieva seen recently in the series Star Wars The Acolyteor even Genneya Walton (My first times) who should play journalist BB Ulrich.
Daredevil : Born Again will come out March 5, 2025 on Disney+ and once in a while, we can’t wait.
