A 6-year-old child dies in an apartment fire in Noyon, his mother manages to escape

Drama – A 9-year-old boy died in a fire in the apartment he lived in with his mother, who survived by jumping out of the window

Fatal fires follow one another in Hauts-de-France, with a new tragedy occurring during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, in Noyon, in Oise. A child died in a burning apartment that he occupied with his mother, we learned from the gendarmerie and the Compiègne public prosecutor’s office.

It was around 9 p.m. on Tuesday when the fire broke out in this apartment located on the first floor of a building, occupied by a mother and her 9-year-old son. According to the Compiègne prosecutor, Guillaume Dupont, the child’s mother, aged 46, was able to “escape the building by jumping from the first floor”. According to him, she had previously tried to save her son who remained in his room.

“A priori” accidental origin of the fire

Once out of this three-story building, the mother was taken care of by the firefighters, declared the commander of the Compiègne gendarmerie company Arthur Cholet. For the little boy, the emergency services were unable to do anything and his body was found in the apartment ravaged by the flames.
