The Spaniard Paula Badosa, seeded No. 11, qualified for the third round of the Australian Open, clearly dominating Australian wild card Talia Gibson (6-1, 6-0) on Wednesday in the middle day, at Melbourne Park.
Badosa, ranked 12th on the WTA, will face Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk, seeded No. 17 in the third round of the Australian Grand Slam.
Before this Wednesday duel against Gibson, 150th WTA player in the world, the Spanish Tennis player had eliminated the Chinese Xinyu Wang (6-3, 7-6 [5]).
The 20-year-old Australian won against Zeynep Sonmez (3-6, 7-6 [5]6-1).
