According to Cédric Chaigne, VINCI Autoroutes manager, the situation on the A10 is gradually evolving after the heavy goods vehicle accident.
« The weight of the truck was recorded on its wheels“, he clarified during an interview given at 9:45 a.m. At the same time, light vehicles blocked behind the incident were able to be evacuated thanks to service access. However, heavy goods vehicles remain immobilized on site. “We are deploying major resources to sweep the highway, particularly on the left lane, in the hope of reopening it as quickly as possible.», added Mr. Chaigne, while specifying that it is still too early to announce a time when traffic will resume. The infrastructure having suffered damage, operations are likely to be prolonged.

The morning is particularly difficult for motorists taking the A10 towards Bordeaux. At 6:55 a.m., a heavy goods vehicle overturned on the tracks, just before the Mirambeau interchange (exit no. 37), making traffic impossible. The truck’s cargo, spread across all the lanes, makes it difficult to restore traffic.

VINCI Autoroutes teams and emergency services quickly intervened on site. “We mobilized the tow truck to remove the damaged vehicle and began cleaning the tracks as soon as possible.», explains the VINCI Autoroutes Traffic Information Center.
The outage should last until midday according to the latest information.

To reduce inconvenience, an obligatory exit and a prohibited entry have been established in Pons (n°36), while an recommended exit and an inadvisable entry are indicated in Saintes (n°35). Motorists are invited to take departmental 137, parallel to the highway, to bypass the area.

For motorists stuck at the accident site, the situation remains particularly difficult. The traffic jams extend for more than a kilometer upstream of the impacted area. On site, emergency services intervened to free the heavy goods vehicle and clean the tracks blocked by the cargo. VINCI Autoroutes recommends that users remain patient and respect the instructions of agents to guarantee a gradual and safe resumption of traffic.
