Across the NHL: Charlie McAvoy, Mark Kastelic and Hampus Lindholm on injured reserve

The Boston Bruins announced Tuesday that they have placed defenseman Charlie McAvoy and forward Mark Kastelic on the injured list, while guard Hampus Lindholm has been placed on the long-term injured list.

The team also recalled forward Matt Poitras and defenseman Michael Callahan from the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League.

The nature of McAvoy’s injury, suffered Saturday against the Florida Panthers, has not been released.

The star defenseman has a record of 5 goals and 20 points in 45 games, with an average of 23:41 of ice time per game.

Kastelic, meanwhile, missed Saturday’s match with an upper-body injury and his condition is being reassessed daily.

The center was acquired from the Ottawa Senators during the off-season and has 4 goals and 12 points in 43 games this season.

Lindholm has been out since Nov. 12 with a lower-body injury.

Poitras played 14 games with the Bruins this season, recording one goal and four points. He also had 8 goals and 20 points in the AHL this season.

Callahan has scored one goal and 6 points in 35 AHL games this season.

Filip Hronek de retour

Defenseman Filip Hronek will return to the Vancouver Canucks lineup when they face the Winnipeg Jets this evening, head coach Rick Tocchet said.

Hronek hasn’t played since Nov. 27 due to a lower-body injury suffered in early December.

The right-handed defender will play on the first pairing with captain Quinn Hughes.

Hronek has one goal and nine points in 21 games this season.

Quebec defender Guillaume Brisebois will be removed from the lineup to make room for Hronek.

Andersen on injured reserve

The Carolina Hurricanes placed goaltender Frederik Andersen on injured reserve Tuesday.

Andersen has been out since October 26 after undergoing knee surgery in November. His rehabilitation was initially expected to last 8 to 12 weeks.

The 35-year-old goaltender began skating again earlier this month, but general manager Eric Tulsky said there was no change in the timetable for his return to play.

More details to come.
