This Thursday morning, Bia and Fonseca will play on the same court – TennisBrasil

Melbourne (Australia) – Brazilian fans in Melbourne for the Australian Open will have the opportunity to see Bia Haddad Maia and João Fonseca play on the same court this Thursday. They are both scheduled to play at Arena 1573 in Melbourne. For those watching from home, it will be a night full of tennis excitement.

Bia’s match is the third on the schedule, scheduled to start around 1 a.m. (Brasilia time). The country’s number one and 17th in the world will face Russian Erika Andreeva, ranked 86th. Bia is aiming to reach the third round in Melbourne for the second year in a row. The 28-year-old from São Paulo triumphed in their previous two meetings in 2021 and 2022, winning in straight sets.

After Bia’s match, it will be Fonseca’s turn to take the court. The 18-year-old from Rio de Janeiro, currently ranked 112th in the world, remains undefeated in his last 14 matches. He will face Italian Lorenzo Sonego, who is ranked 55th. The only previous meeting between the two took place last year in Bucharest, where the Brazilian emerged victorious. Fonseca comes into this match with increased motivation after securing his first Grand Slam victory against world number 9 Andrey Rublev on Tuesday.
