It was around 9:30 p.m. when the alert was given to Noyon (Oise), on this disastrous evening of Tuesday January 14, 2025.
A violent fire required the intervention of emergency services in the Cité Calvin, rue du Calvaire, not far from the Paterlini brothers stadium.
A 6 year old child died
The fire, which apparently broke out on the first floor of a building managed by the social landlord OPAC, cost the life of a 6 year old child. He lived on the first floor of this building with his mother, who jumped from the first floor to try to alert the emergency services and thus save her son.
The boy, who inhaled fumes, was found inanimate by the firefighters when they extracted him from the apartment. Despite attempts at resuscitation, the Smur doctor had to declare his death on the spot.
Slightly injured, his mother, a 46-year-old woman, was taken to hospital.
The origin of the disaster remains unknown
Accidental or criminal, no lead is favored at this stage concerning the causes of this disaster. The Compiègne public prosecutor’s office has opened an investigationentrusted to the Noyon gendarmerie brigade.
“The investigation opened into the causes of death and entrusted to the national gendarmerie will specify the origin of the fire (a fire assessment being scheduled) and an examination of the child’s body”, specifies Guillaume Dupont, the prosecutor of the Republic of Compiègne.
