In fact, the actor Tony Slattery – particularly known across the Channel for having been one of the participants in the improvisation show Whose Line Is It Anyway ? broadcast for many years on Channel 4 – died on Tuesday January 14. It was his companion, actor Mark Michael Hutchinson, who announced the sad news in a press release sent to the BBC: “It is with great sadness that we must announce the death on Tuesday morning of actor and comedian Tony Slattery, aged 65, following a heart attack on Sunday evening“, he explains.

Originally from north London, it was during his studies at Cambridge that Tony Slattery developed a taste for comedy, notably thanks to his meeting with Stephen Fry – actor and famous presenter in England – who asked him to join the Cambridge Footlights troupe, alongside other members who had also subsequently enjoyed success such as Hugh Laurie or even Emma Thompson. During the 1990s, Tony Slattery appeared in various English productions as The Crying Game, To Die For, Peter’s Friends et The Wedding Tackleand will also star in various television series like That’s Love or Just a Gigolo on ITV. But it was his participation in the flagship shows of the beginning of the decade like Whose Line Is It Anyway ? which earned him his popularity.

Shortly before the start of the 2000s, Tony Slattery’s career slowed down. The actor, suffering from alcohol and cocaine addiction problems, devotes himself to his health. On the private side, Tony Slattery shared the life of Mark Michael Hutchinson, an actor he met in 1986 while they were both starring in the musical Me and My Girl.
